  14.    Call for participation at Bit Movie '96
  15.    International Contest of Images, Animations,
  16.    Video, Multimedia and WRML Works realized
  17.    with the computer graphics.

  20.    I invite the computer artists, animation and multimedia authors to
  21. participate in the international contest for graphic animation, static
  22. image, computer generated video, multimedia and VRML 
  23. works, Bit Movie '96, that will take place in Riccione (Italy), in the
  24. main hall of Palazzo del Turismo, from 4th till 8th April 1996.

  26.    The deadline to enter the contest is January 15th 1996 (faithfully
  27. to the forwarding post mark).

  33.    There you can found the works of the last edition of Bit Movie and
  34. you can get the competition rules and entry forms of Bit Movie '96
  35. contest.

  37.    Over the past eight years many accomplished digital artists and 
  38. animators from all over the world presented the year's best computer-
  39. generated animations, images and videos at the Bit Movie Festival.
  40.  
  41.    Bit Movie is a showcase for current examples of the use of computer
  42.  
  43. graphics and computer animation in a broad spectrum of fields,
  44. including scientific and technical research, art and entertainment.
  45. Bit Movie attendees represent an ever-increasing variety of skills,
  46. interests, and backgrounds within the field of computer graphics.
  47.  
  48.    Along the traditional and most known sections of the contest, like
  49. the animation section (for animations made on personal computer and
  50. played from the hard disk), the still image section, and the video
  51. section (for professional works recorded on videotape), new areas of
  52. computer graphics will be investigated in this ninth edition of the
  53. competition.
  54.  
  55.    Interactive Multimedia, Demo and new cool VRML category have been
  56. added to stimulate the new and investigative use of digital mediums in
  57. modern art practice, in scientific and technical research, education
  58. and entertainment.
  59.  
  60.    A number of modifications have been made to better match the new
  61. avenues of computer graphics, rising the credibility of the contest:
  62.  
  63.    The Still Image Section is now open to the graphics workstation.
  64.    A jury of the networking community will evaluate the images (low 
  65. resolution version) published on the Web pages.
  66.    The Demo and the Interactive Multimedia categories are now
  67. indipendent with different prizes.
  68.    A new cool VRML category has been added.
  69.    The authors of the Interactive Multimedia and VRML categories can 
  70. present their works to the attendees on their own hardware systems.
  71.    The prize for the best original soundtrack, to encourage the music 
  72. composition for visual art, is confirmed. 
  73.    
  74.    Bit.Movie has free participation and free entrance and not only
  75. strives to mobilize a large audience, but also offers a unique
  76. opportunity for international debate between artists, critics and
  77. audience.

  79.    The festival is widely recognized as an important breeding ground
  80. for new talent and new development in modern visual art. Bit Movie
  81. hopes to further strenghten this reputation. In the last edition 783
  82. works have been sent to the Festival, 249 more than 1994. The authors
  83. were 333, 107 more.
  84.  
  85.    Entries are encouraged from all areas of computer graphics and are 
  86. juried on the basis of content, technical innovation, originality, and
  87.  
  88. design. The jury is comprised of people working in a broad range of
  89. fields within computer graphics.
